"I read the story and really felt that our students could identify with Pinto Bean finding the "just right" environment that he could practice becoming a bronco horse. Before I start the read aloud, I tell students about PB and his best friend Jay.
Then, I ask them to share with me some of their learning spaces in their room and at home. I have gotten all kinds of responses. At the end of the story we reflect on all of the different spaces PB tries out until he finds a place where everyone can learn. I then talk about the new spaces we are creating in our classrooms.
I see that Pinto Bean's journey has helped us involve our most important stakeholders, our students, in forming their learning environments. Pretty cool! "
